The expansion valve removes pressure from the liquid refrigerant to allow expansion or change of state from a liquid to a vapor in the evaporator.
The valves control the injection of liquid refrigerant into evaporators and protect the compressor motor against liquid refrigerant.
The expansion valve allows you to keep a constant superheat (or refrigerant level) at varying load situations in the refrigeration system to save energy.
They help to facilitate the change of higher pressure of liquid refrigerant in the condensing unit to lower pressure gas refrigerant in the evaporator.
The expansion valve is part of the evaporator, located under the dash.
