Capsicum is a genus of flowering plants in the nightshade family Solanaceae, native to the Americas, cultivated worldwide for their edible fruit, which are generally known as "peppers" or "capsicum". Chili peppers grow on five species of Capsicum. Green bell peppers are crunchy with an aromatic, green, less sweet and almost bitter flavor than the other colored varieties.
A good source of flavonoids which are phytochemicals with strong antioxidant capabilities. It helps to purify the blood by removing pollutants, resulting in healthy and radiant skin. In a fresh salsa or relis, use capsicum as a crisp, spicy, savoury element. It can be added to sauces, stews, and soups. When grilled or roasted, they become a delicious, stand-alone vegetable.
