Wooden sleeper, also called timber sleeper, is one kind of railway sleeper that is made of wood, also known as wooden railway sleeper or wood railroad tie. Compared to other types of railway sleepers, the wooden sleeper has the advantages of good elasticity, lightweight, easy installation and good insulation properties. Traditionally used to lay rail tracks on, these are large rectangular sawn pieces of timber that are now used in a variety of landscaping and gardening environments, such as raised beds, lawn and border edging, steps, pathways and retaining walls.
