Replacement carbon filters should be changed approximately every 3 to 5 weeks to maintain water freshness. (Depending on the size and number of pet using the fountain).
To prevent the activated carbon dust (caused by long express shipping and will not harm your pets) from shedding into the water, please soak the filter in water for 3 minutes and rinse it thoroughly under running water before use.
