Sodium percarbonate is a solid form of hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate. Likewise, sodium perborate is a solid form of hydrogen peroxide and sodium metaborate. A solid form of these peroxide derivatives is another advantage in the terms of handling and storage.
Sodium perborate is an oxidative preservative that is used in genteel lubricating eye drops. With topical application, sodium perborate is converted by catalase to water, oxygen, and hydrogen peroxide.
