Delta originally presented the pompei in 1996 as its first pen crafted in celluloid, with an unusual lateral lever filling system. The most characteristic detail of the pompeii was its “pompeian red” color, formulated to match the red walls of the houses of the ancient roman city. Recently, a sensational scientific discovery demonstrated that the true color of the walls was actually yellow. This news inspired delta’s artisans to ‘rediscover’ pompeii, and develop a new collection adopting the yellow as the base color. The result is an impressive, precious celluloid interlaced with antique black streaks – we've never seen a finish like it! Sterling silver accents include a wide sculpted band with a pompeian frieze pattern. The rediscover pompeii series includes two fountain pens with 14k gold nibs: a large, built-in piston filler model and a medium-size version that takes cartridges or converter. The numbered collection also has a ball pen and capped rollerball.
